Coin Solo RPG System is now on version 1.05

SoRoPlay GamTools Zine: Coin Solo RPG System

For the latest version 1.04 Coin Solo RPG System which is found pinned to the top of my subreddit, see https://www.reddit.com/r/Solo_RPG_Tools/ .

It is a coin flip based solo RPG system, also available in a paid PDF format.

As for 1.04 vs 1.05, the bold features listed in the bullet are features now in 1.05.

I just uploaded and sent an email out to those who have purchased the PDF version. Check your library. The price went up a little, which I've been doing after every update after the introductory offer.

Here is the updated product description. The bold on the bullet point words indicate the new features since v1.04.

Coin Solo RPG System v1.05This Zine PDF brings together several social media posts for the creation of a coin-based solo RPG system.
This issue is being used to help fund a possible further creation of this coin-solo game system.
This PDF is rough and unpolished, though a few images have been added. It is single column and minimal layout and no editing.
This PDF has the following sections for the current 1.05 version.
  • A simple Coin solo game engine (yes/no, succeed/fail, A or B).
  • 2 character personality types
  • 2 scaling attributes
  • 4 skill-set models
  • Combat and Character Charts on two pages
  • 2 conflict-plot types
  • 2 groups of sensory facts
  • Coin Flip Combat Rules using Combat Score comparison
  • 3 coin flip simultaneous combat damage system
  • 3 coin flip targeting system
  • Scaling weapon damage and 3 armor protection: absorption and reduction
  • a Wound Trackers by body location for 4 degrees of life force: Grunt to Huge, based on one stat of the character.
  • Ranged combat modifier
  • A new example of 1.05v simultaneous coin flip combat
  • an early 1.01 version example (pre coin combat system, I used a hybrid of One-roll Fudge and Remnant RPG Tools combat) creating a 5,314 word short story.
  • The example creates a short story called "The Art of Love and Loss"

Update Notes and turned it into a blog article

The notes that I posted February 2nd are now updated with added commentary.

It is now named "Adventure Creation notes from Wizard article applied to solo gaming"

Much of the content is now my opinion or my content except for the bold titles which remain. Some of the details that were posted are removed because I have no comment on that material. This new blog page represents my interpretation of those prior notes as it applies to my solo RPG gaming.

ABS12: Drama Escalator, v 1.06

All the changes from this page will be added to the complete master game page at A Basic System 12 (ABS12).

New version number
If you haven't  noticed, I upped the version now to 1.06 including everything changed or added last week. The current version is much larger than the last version update. I finished my magic user play test, added the deck of cards option for the solo gaming engine, added a new power & magic system, and added a story engine.

Drama Escalation
Here is a small update I will try for drama escalation.

Escalating answers.

  1. For the GM emulator, once the inciting event has occurred start at -4 to all rolls for actions related to plot.
  2. This will limit the maximum best possible answer as a 'Yes, however'.
  3. Then each time that the character fails to achieve a plot goal add 1 to the initial and subsequent base # -4 slowly reducing it to zero and then it can become a positive number.
  4. This slowly increases the chance to getting a 'Yes' answer.
  5. Once a 'Yes' or 'Yes, also' has been achieved, the escalating number returns to -4 value.
  6. If the scene is a climax scene, any negative value becomes zero and can become positive.

ABS12: Merfolk & Satyr, ver 1.05

All the changes from this page will be added to the complete master game page at A Basic System 12 (ABS12). I've greatly expanded the weapons list. I've changed from a power level creature system to a base statistic system.

New version number
If you haven't  noticed, I upped the version now to 1.05 including everything changed or added last week. The current version is much larger than the last version update. I've added a preview text highlighting parts of the game. I added PL0 information. I improved the fighter, magic user, and thief. I've added many creatures which are now playable. And I added the gingerbread person for hit or description location.

Merfolk and satyr added to the creatures or playable races.

ABS12: Description update, Magic User

All the changes from this page will be added to the complete master game page at A Basic System 12 (ABS12).

I'm going to apply the data from the other days to the descriptions. I haven't adjusted the four descriptions in the encounter PL0, PL1, PL2 sections yet however, until next creature update. You can do it manually until then.

Biggest changes
Thief decreased covert to 2 and gains 1 life, Fighter decreases speed to 1, Magic User will get 3 build points in another spell or alchemy skill.

Humanoid Species Descriptions:
These are the basic four humanoid species descriptions in many fantasy worlds.

Humanoid species include humans, orcs, dwarves, elves, halflings, gnolls, goblins, hobgoblins, kobolds

Depending on the game world players may also play using one of the many non-humanoid species found at the back of the game as well. Use those stats for such occasions.

Magic User spells
Magic Users get 3 build points to get new spells besides fireball.

Magic Users Spells: disease, poison, splinter smash, firecone, corrupt touch, fear, drain touch, corrupt stare, petrification, charm, dig, fly, immune (to one element or poison/disease), aware, defense (increase defense temporarily), covert (invisible), or offensive bonus. Each build point raises damage up the scaling damage chart from 1 to a current max of 6 damage levels [(1d12*3) /4].
