Playtesting the magic user Part 1

For this gameplay, creating a story using a game system I will be using the entire ABS12 current system.

ABS12 Game System

I wanted to test how competitive the magic user is . So far I have only test played fighters.

My question is how would the current system fair with a magic user vs a PL0 species compared to the fighter. How does that magic work, and what needs to be fixed.

I notice a mistake right away. PL0 should have defense and attack of 0, since PL0 hasn't received training yet. I'll change it here but change it later on the master game file.

Also this will be the first time trying to use the separate basic stats and the description stats. I have to combine them first at the PL that I desire..

Basic Stats by PL for all Species

The magic user is PL1.

I typed in the PL1 life, speed, and defense with the humanoid magic user amounts, wearing a cloth robe. With the 3 BP I will learn 3 ranks of a entangling net spell.

I'll try a giant rat PL0 first.

Establishing the scene

Let me set the scene using the fact generator. I'll pick 4 concepts

[6 - think, 11 - idea
8 - time, 11 - future
8 - time, 5 - hurry
9 - move, 7 - squirm]

idea, future, hurry, squirm

I think the magic user is hurry to find something - squirming nervously to find something in the basement. Time is important. This item has something to do with the future. The idea came to the mage for some reason. Let me role one more time to maybe clarify things.

I want one more clues.
[10 - state, 10 - secret]

Aha! It is a secret item which no one knows about but somebody is coming to consult with the mage because of it's future importance.

What does it look like or do?

[7 - transform, 3 - reform]

It is some device that transforms a person.

[6 - think, 6 - create]

It was created by the mage.

[1 - see, 1 - color]

It glows in a mystical aura with a blue hue.

[12 - dimension, 7 - small]

It's something small - a ring of transformation. Very valuable.

Magic user name Madi

Gameplay

The magic user comes to the door leading into the basement of his old shop. The ancient door looked worn from years - centuries even - of use.

A sudden panic always hits her whenever she reaches the oaken door. This time was no different.

Is it locked?

[most likely +4, if it has valuable items
2 + 4 = 6; No, unless he happened to remember locking it last time - succeed a description roll last time going down; very possible + 4; 10 + 4 = 14; Yes he not only remember to lock it once, also he locked a second lock]

The door creaked a little as he pushed first on the door. It only moved a little and then came in contact with the tumbler lock. A turn of the key, a click, and the main one unlocked. He pushed the door again. The door made another click as it hit the second lock.

She shuffled through his keyring and found the silver key, placed it inside and turned releasing the lock.

Madi breathed in one deep breath and pushed the door for a third time.

[Is there any magic lighting? 50/50; 12 Yes, not only is it magical light (6 think, 5 evaluate) the basement speaks to Madi asking her about her day.]

The door opened. Soon the walls began to glow brighter.

She watched the shadows below receded, warming to a comfortable glow.

"Welcome back mistress Madi," echoed through the halls, which seemed to speak from the walls.

"Hello Basement. Have you missed me." She slowly began her decent, careful to lift her long magenta robe to keep from stepping or tripping. She'd fallen once years ago which taught her a painful lesson.

"Of course I miss you when you are not here. It fills me with great joy when you are working down here and spending time with me."

Once safe at the bottom she continued down the hallway.

[Does the Basement know if the giant rat was moving around. 50/50; 1d12 = 8; Yes, however Basement thinks that it was her.]

"When you were down here earlier this morning, why didn't you speak with me?" echoed the Basement's voice almost in a sad voice.

Madi stopped. She was a bit confused.

She said in a somewhat slow and confused voice, "I wasn't down here ... this morning - What do you mean?"

I'll stop here for now and continue another time.

Here is the text without mechanic info
